The newly admitted students of Dominion University, Ibadan, have been admonished to start aiming to finish at the top at the end of their academic pursuit at the university.
The university Chancellor, Bishop Taiwo Adelakun, gave the admonition while delivering his address during the 6th matriculation ceremony of the institution held on Thursday.
Adelakun noted that the time for the new students to start aiming for the topmost is now. He said whatever grade that each of the students will graduate with will be determined since the beginning of the academic session.

He urged them to be focused, set priorities and shun all acts capable of distracting them and ensure that they conduct themselves in a very peaceful manner.
In his address, Vice-Chancellor, Dominion University, Professor Abel Olorunnisola, informed that for the 2024/2026 academic session, a total of 227 students were admitted into the university’s fifteen academic programmes in the Faculty of Arts, Social Sciences and Management Sciences, Faculty of Computing and Applied Sciences and Faculty of Allied Health Sciences.
He stated further that the students were drawn from the 18 states of the Nigerian federation, saying:”For the first time, we are admitting students into the Faculty of Allied Health Sciences. These 62 students, therefore, constitute the pioneering students of the latest Faculty in the Dominion University, headed by the pioneer Dean, Professor Gabriel Adegoke.”
In his charge to the matriculating students, Olorunnisola said:”Responsibility and maturity go together. It should be noted, however, that maturity is a mindset that can be developed at any age.
“While society often associates maturity with getting older, the truth is that maturity has more to do with how you think, react and handle life’s challenges than with the number of years you have lived. I, therefore, want you to note, as you start your journey in the university.”
