The lawmaker representing Doguwa/Tudun Wada Federal Constituency of Kano State, Hon Alhassan Ado Doguwa, has expressed deep concern over what he described as persistent and politically motivated attacks on members and supporters of the All Progressives Congress (APC)in his constituency.
He made this known in a statement personally signed by the Lawmaker, a copy of which was made available to Journalists in Kano
Doguwa, who serves as the chairman, House Committee on Petroleum (Upstream), lamented that the latest incident occurred on August 28, 2025, when suspected political thugs invaded Tasarrufi General Enterprise, a factory in the Tudun Wada local government area of the state.
He said, ” The assailants allegedly injured workers and destroyed property, leaving many residents in fear of further violence.”
He added that the attack was not an isolated event but part of a larger pattern of intimidation targeted at APC members in Doguwa/Tudun Wada Federal Constituency.
Doguwa stated that the APC chairman of the Tudun Wada Local Government, Alhaji Suyudi Umar, was deliberately targeted in the violence.
“This is barbaric and unacceptable. No one, no matter how highly placed, is above the law. We cannot continue to condone acts that put the lives of our people and the stability of our democracy at risk,” Doguwa said, while calling for urgent intervention from security agencies.
Doguwa, therefore, called on President Bola Tinubu and the national leadership of the APC to take the matter seriously, stressing that democracy thrives only when citizens can freely associate with the political party of their choice without intimidation or violence.
He also urged his constituents to remain calm and law-abiding while awaiting the outcome of police investigations.
Meanwhile, commenting on the matter, the Kano State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, confirmed that it has launched a full-scale investigation into the matter.
Kiyawa disclosed that all relevant parties, including ALGON officials, community leaders, and witnesses, have been invited to give statements, assuring that justice would be served without fear or favour.
Recall that an association under the umbrella of Human Rights Network Nigeria (HRN-Nigeria) had on Thursday, 4th September, 2025 filed a petition demanding a thorough probe into the incident.
