If you’re not conversant hair treatment, I know you would wonder why this is necessary. I will explain. First off: It’s that time of the year again and you could use some haircare tips for the rainy season because if rain falls on your hair, you could be at risk of scalp infections and hair problems.

Contents
  • 1. Protect your hair
  • 2. Keep your hair moisturised
  • 3. Choose your styles intentionally
  • 4. Frequent wash days
  • 5. Avoid heat styling
  • 6. Careful detangling
  • 7. Dry your hair in good time

It could translate to consistent bad hair days and affect your overall health by ruining your moods, allowing direct contact with bacteria in your hair, and making you prone to illnesses.

So, how can you give your hair the treatment it deserves to keep it healthy during the rainy season?

1. Protect your hair

The weather these days can be unpredictable. One minute, it looks like it’ll be sunny all day, and the next, there’s an outpouring throughout the day. So, when you’re stepping out every day, provide a covering for your hair. It could be a hat, a plastic hair cover, waterproof caps, or a scarf. This is essential because rainwater can irritate your scalp and cause itchiness, making your hair frizzy and making your scalp red and swollen.

2. Keep your hair moisturised

The rainy season can dry and flake your scalp, so you need to moisturise it regularly and use hair conditioners or oils to seal in moisture all day.

3. Choose your styles intentionally

Preferably, when it’s the rainy season, you can avoid styles that are not minimalistic because it’ll be hard to alter them if needed. So, you can choose protective hairstyles that will make your scalp easily accessible. Styles like braids, twists, cornrows, etc. They’ll help to make it easy to manage the exposure of your hair to the harsh effects of rainwater.

4. Frequent wash days

You might have to commit yourself to washing your hair regularly. This haircare tip works so well during the rainy season because rainwater can breed germs and irritants in your hair and is unhealthy. Whenever your hair gets wet due to the rain, immediately work towards washing your hair with a shampoo and hair conditioner. Also, be sure that they are mild and are not harsh.

5. Avoid heat styling

Earlier, we mentioned that one hair care tip that comes in handy during the rainy season is moisturising your hair and sealing it in moisture because of the dryness that comes with the season. Heat styling is not a great option during the weather because it can damage your hair.

6. Careful detangling

You can lose a chunk of your hair if you don’t detangle with care, especially when wet, because it is fragile and can cause hair breakage. So, you should use combs that are appropriate for your hair. Haircare enthusiasts often advise that a wide-toothed comb is an excellent option for detangling your hair. Also, you can use your hands simultaneously to detangle your hair.

7. Dry your hair in good time

Leaving your hair wet for a long time can damage your hair and make your scalp prone to infections. Use dry and clean clothes to dry your hair, and do it with care.

Above all, while you pay attention to your feet and your dress in the rainy season, remember that your hair is also important and contributes to a great outlook.
