Dickson dissolves LG caretaker committees in Bayelsa

Bayelsa State Governor, Henry Seriake Dickson

Governor Seriake Dickson of Bayelsa State has dissolved the caretaker committees of the eight constitutionally recognised local government councils in the state.

The caretaker committee chairmen, it was learnt presided over the councils for three years.

This is contained in a statement issued by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Mr Daniel Iworiso Markson and made available to journalists in Yenagoa.

The state noted that the dissolution was with immediate effect and that the chairmen should handover to the Head of Personnel Management of their various councils.

The governor averred that in line with constitution, it was time to evolve modalities for elected chairmen to administer the eight local government councils in the state.

Dickson pointed that the caretaker council’s chairmen were impressive, as they put in their best to administer the day to day running of the council, even as he noted that it was time for others committed loyalists of the Restoration Government to also bring in their wealth of ideas into governance and also be rewarded.

He adjudged his administration as people friendly and that he would continue to appreciate those that stood with the party when the battle was fierce, before his administration winds up for a new government.

Dickson, however, called on party faithful and supporters of the government to sustain their loyalty and commitment, stressing that his government places value on them and would also reward them in due course.

The document wished the councils’ chairmen well in their future endeavours.

Earlier, out-gone caretaker chairmen of Brass and Yenagoa local government, Bello Bina and Oforji Oboku lauded the Dickson led government for giving them the opportunity to serve, which they posited was never abused.

They noted that their achievements speak volumes and that they would be willing to serve in whatever capacity when called to do so in the future.
