DESOPADEC grants N100,000 each to 50 women for business expansion

At least 50 women from each of the ethnic nationalities in Delta State Oil Producing Area Development Commission (DESOPADEC) are to receive a grant of N100,000 each to enable them to expand their businesses.

Similarly, the grant for the next phase of DESOPADEC Skills Academy (DSA) to beneficiaries has been increased from N200,000  to N500,000 in addition to their various business start-up packs.

Chairman of the  Commission,  Chief John Nani said: “The DSA programme is to train and empower our skills academy students but now, we understand that there are a lot of youths who are trained and have no means of empowering themselves.

The chairman was speaking at the end of the meeting with board members of the  Commission in Warri.

The Managing Directior/CEO of the Commission, Chief Festus Ochonogor said payment of the new minimum wage for workers will commence from November ending with arrears.

“We have also granted approval for the implementation of the 2024 promotion exercise,” he said.
