Delta: Police uncover gruesome murder of site engineer, arrest two suspects

The Delta State Police Command has arrested two suspects in connection with the brutal murder of Chigozie Udalor, a site engineer who his own employees allegedly killed in a plot to steal from him.

Two other suspects remain at large as authorities work tirelessly to bring them to justice.

The case unfolded on December 12, 2024, when Hyacinth Nnalue reported to the Akwu-kwu Igbo Police Division that his cousin, Chigozie Udalor, had been missing since December 10.

Udalor was the site manager of a fish farm in Bod Camp, Akwukwu Igbo community.

After initial investigations, the case was transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID).

Under the directive of the Delta State Commissioner of Police, CP Olufemi Abaniwonda, detectives launched a high-tech investigation.

On March 31, 2025, a breakthrough was achieved with the arrest of David Tacho, who was caught attempting to withdraw money from Udalor’s Moniepoint account using his mobile phone.

Shortly after, another suspect, Daniel Orshio, was taken into custody.

Further investigations revealed a sinister scheme. Udalor’s employees—David Tacho, his brother Victor Tacho, Pius Daniel, and Daniel Orshio—discovered that he had a substantial sum in his Moniepoint account.

Driven by greed, they conspired to kill him. Reports indicate that they used a hammer to strike Udalor on the head, tied him up, and buried him in a shallow grave at the site.

While David Tacho and Daniel Orshio are in police custody, their alleged accomplices, Victor Tacho and Pius Daniel, remain on the run.

Authorities have since exhumed the victim’s body for an autopsy as the search for the fugitives continues.

“We are committed to ensuring that justice prevails. The full weight of the law will be brought down on all involved in this horrific crime,” said SP Edafe Bright, the Police Public Relations Officer.

The Delta State Police Command is urging the public to come forward with any information that could aid in the apprehension of the remaining suspects.
