Delta PDP’s defection to APC, betrayal of citizens’ electoral will — LP Chieftain

Labour Party Chieftain Chris Biose in Delta State has faulted the defection of members of the Peoples Democratic Party to the All Progressives Congress, saying the diversion of the sacred mandate of the Delta electorate to another political party was a grievous betrayal of the electoral will of the people.

“It is an assault on the party and the principle of democratic representation.

“Their action, not their words, tells Deltans what they really are,” Chairman of the State Obedient Elders Council, Chris Biose, said.

Addressing a press conference in Asaba at the weekend, Elder Biose said the claim by the defectors to join APC in order to foster the development of the state is countermanded by the dismal record of that party at the national level over the past 10 years of its hold on the country.

According to him, APC rule is marked by a descent into economic chaos and untrammelled insecurity.

He also explained that in spite of the seeming wholesale of Delta to the APC, Labour Party assured that there are still men and women of conscience in several theatres of state affairs, even within the PDP and APC fold.

Biose called on community leaders, youth groups, civil society organisations, professional bodies, Deltans, and particularly the media, to join hands in rejecting the sale of Delta State to the APC on the altar of political expediency for the benefit of a few political merchants.

On the security of the state, Elder Biose said: “We call on all men of conscience in Delta State and the country at large to join Obidients in requesting the Governor of Delta State, Sheriff Oborevwori, to take immediate action to empower community vigilantes to protect communities from armed invaders who are destroying their farms and killing citizens.

“The Obidient Movement constitutes a category of Nigerians from all walks of life, at home and in the Diaspora, who strongly abhor injustice, man’s inhumanity to man, religious bigotry, grand corruption, and nepotism, and are resolute in fighting these debilitating vices that beset the Nigerian polity.

“We hereby call on men of integrity in the PDP and APC who are unable to put up in good conscience with the shenanigans of their parties to join the Obidients to rescue Nigeria.”
