Delta CP alerts public on fraudulent online businesses in the state

WORRIED by the spate of fraudulent online businesses, the Commissioner of Police (CP), Delta State Police Command, CP Muhammad Mustafa, has called on members of the public, to beware of online conmen.

He warned Deltans to take precautionary measures before investing in any online businesses, especially “Crypto-currencies-Swiss currency, millionaire coins, bitcoins or any other business in which mouth-watery offers are made ostensibly to lure unsuspecting investors into parting with their hard-earned money.”

CP Mustafa gave this advice in a statement signed by the PPRO, DSP Andrew Aniamaka and made available to journalists in Warri, Delta State.

He said the warning was necessary following intelligence reports on activities of some high-wired network fraud syndicate alleged to have swindled some members of the public of N226, 715, 250.00 through an account number: 5371322501 said to be domiciled in one of the major banks in the state.

The police boss further disclosed that investigation was ongoing to ascertain the extent of involvement of some persons already arrested.

He said efforts were also on apprehend other persons connected with the case but warned the public to be on the alert and promptly report activities of fraudulent individuals to the police or other relevant security agencies.
