Nigerian music star, David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has publicly remembered his late son, Ifeanyi, nearly three years after the tragic incident that claimed the boy’s life.
In a post on X on Tuesday, he wrote, “Ifeanyi David Adedeji Adeleke RIP LEGEND !!”
The singer’s three-year-old son, David Ifeanyi Adedeji Adeleke Jr, died after reportedly drowning in the swimming pool at Davido’s Lagos residence on 31 October 2022.
According to Lagos State Police spokesman Ben Hundeyin, the singer was not at home at the time of the incident, and his then-fiancée, now wife, Chioma Rowland, who is also the child’s mother, was reportedly away as well.
The Lagos State Police Command confirmed the tragic event on November 1, 2022, noting that the incident had occurred the previous night.

Following the death, Nigerian celebrities in their numbers took to different social media platforms to express their shock over the loss and extended prayers to the singer and his entire family during this difficult phase.
Tribune Online reports that the celebrities described the pain of losing a child as a deep one that no parent deserves to go through.
