The Ogun State government on Tuesday handed a sum of N1 million to the immediate family of a commercial driver, Sauban Koleosho, who was allegedly shot to death by men of the Nigeria Customs Service , at Kobape, along Abeokuta- Siun-Sagamu expressway, some weeks back.
The Secretary to the State Government, Mr Taiwo Adeoluwa, made the donation on behalf of the state government for the upkeep of the family with a pledge that the perpetrators of the dastardly act that claimed the life of their breadwinner would be brought to justice.
“I assure you that we will not rest until the perpetrators of the killing are brought to book. We shall do everything within our power to ensure that this family gets justice”, the SSG added.
While maintaining that government would not encourage smuggling and other acts of economic sabotage, the State Scribe urged security agencies in the State to always carry out their activities with utmost civility to prevent re-occurrence of such unfortunate incident.
Responding, the widow, Mrs Zainab Koleosho, thanked government for the gesture and appealed for further assistance on the education of her four children.
The Customs operatives had reportedly shot at the driver on the suspicion that he was conveying smuggled bags of rice along the Abeokuta-Sagamu expressway.
