Magistrates in Cross River State have commenced a two-week warning strike to protest unresolved issues related to promotions, welfare, and other demands made to the state government.
The strike, declared by the Magistrates Association of Nigeria (MAN), Cross River State Chapter, was announced in a statement jointly signed by its Chairman, Godwin Onah, and Secretary General, Solomon Abuo, on Wednesday.
The statement revealed that the decision follows the government’s failure to address an 8-point demand outlined in a communiqué issued on November 5, 2024.
Despite a letter to Governor Bassey Otu dated November 11 and an extended deadline of November 22 to allow for government intervention, the demands remain unmet, the union said.
