Nigeria Police Force has recorded another significant milestone on the international stage as Commissioner of Police Olubode Ojajuni emerged victorious in the keenly contested election for membership of the INTERPOL Africa Committee.
This was contained in a statement made available to newsmen in Abuja on Friday by the Force Public Relations Officer, FPRO, Deputy Commissioner of Police, DCP Olumuyiwa Adejobi.
According to the statement, the election, which was held during the just concluded 27th African Regional Conference in Cape Town, South Africa, secured for Nigeria the fifth seat on the Committee with a tenure of two years.

According to it, “The INTERPOL Africa Committee is vested with the responsibility of advising the African Regional Conference in the execution of its mandate, facilitating its sessions, and identifying strategic crime priorities. It also strengthens police cooperation across borders, advances best practices, and develops projects aimed at enhancing regional and continental security”.
It explained that this achievement reflected Nigeria’s growing influence and leadership in global law enforcement matters, particularly in the fight against transnational crime, terrorism, and other emerging threats.
It pointed out that with CP Ojajuni’s election, Nigeria would continue to play a critical role in shaping regional and global policing strategies under the INTERPOL framework.
The statement further added that the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, while congratulating CP Ojajuni on the feat, reaffirmed the commitment of the Nigeria Police to professionalism, integrity, and international cooperation, while pledging to sustain active engagement with global partners to promote peace and security worldwide.
