The founder/Chairman Emeritus, Daar Communications, High Chief Raymond Dokpesi, has said with well-thought-out policy and investments in the nation’s health sector, the COVID-19 pandemic might turn out to be the much-needed catalyst to reform the sector.
Dokpesi, in an appreciation letter, made available to Tribune Online, shortly after being discharged from the University of Abuja Teaching Hospital, Gwagwalada Isolation Centre, on Thursday, after testing negative, twice, to the COVID-19 virus, stated that his stay at the isolation centre provided him with the opportunity to experience, first-hand, the enormous challenges facing the country.
According to him, the stay also acquainted him with the personal sacrifices many Nigerians were making to enable the country to defeat the COVID-19 pandemic.
“The past weeks have provided us with the first-hand experience of the enormous challenge before us as a country. We are better acquainted with the personal sacrifices many Nigerians are making to ensure that we collectively defeat this COVID-19 pandemic.

“This cuts across the policymakers, the care providers and even the cleaners whose job puts them at constant risk of exposure to the COVID-19 virus,” he stated.
While expressing his gratitude and those of his family members to God, the medical personnel at the isolation centre, the Presidential Task Force on COVID-19 and other concerned Nigerians for their prayers and support while at the centre, the Daar Communications boss, however, stressed the need for all Nigerians to be united to be able to fight and defeat the COVID-19 pandemic.
“It is my firm belief that with well thought out policies, coupled with targeted and highly coordinated investment in the health system, Nigeria’s fight against COVID-19 may become the catalyst for the much-needed reform in the health sector,” he added.
The DAAR Communications’ boss, his daughter- in- law and six members of his family tested positive to COVID-19, on May 1, this year, three days after his son, Raymond Dokpesi Jnr, was also found to have tested positive to the COVID-19 virus.
