An Ado Ekiti Chief Magistrate Court sitting in Ado-Ekiti has remanded two suspected herdsmen in prison custody for their connection with the kidnapping of a traditional ruler, Obadu of Ilemeso-Ekiti, Oba David Oyewumi in the state.

The two suspects, Muhammed Abubakar (50) and Bello Mohammed (35) were alleged to have masterminded the invasion of the palace in Ilemeso-Ekiti, Oye local government area of the state on April 15th and abducted the monarch who was released after payment of ransom.

During the attack, the gunmen numbering six, scaled the fence to gain access to the palace and shot sporadically to scare the occupants.

The presiding Magistrate Abdulameen Lawal ordered the duo to be remanded in the Nigerian Correctional Centre, Ado-Ekiti pending the time when the case would be mentioned.

The prosecutor, Bamikole Olasunkanmi requested for the order to allow him forward the duplicate case file to the office of the Director of Public Prosecutions for legal advice.

He said the offence is punishable under Sec. 3 (a) of the Kidnap and Terrorism (Prohibition) Laws of Ekiti State 2015.

The case was adjourned to July 14 for commencement of trial.
