Oyo state High court sitting in Ibadan has adjourned for further hearing the suit filed by a cooperative society, Basiri Cooperative Investment against Chinese firm, China Engineering Constructing Company, CECC.

The Complainant had in a suit filed before the court alleged the defendant, CCECC no compliance with agreement reached on a leased hectrar of land in Mogaji area, Ido local government.

The cooperative society alleged the Chinese firm refused to restore land dredged during the period of lease of one year.

During the proceedings, the two parties had agreed to settle the case out of court by ensuring the restoration of the land, which was leased by the firm between 2018/2019, into its original state before the lease.

However, on Tuesday, the counsel to the defendant, Ebenezer Ogunduro promised to send a letter containing offers for settlement to the counsel of the claimant before the next hearing in the court.

The claimant’s counsel, Bola Adebiyi, however, said the trial is adjourned for a court settlement or suit hearing.

“We are of the view that there will be a court hearing if settlements cannot be achieved before the date; tribunal will proceed with our complaint,” he concluded.

Presiding Justice M.O Ishola ruled that the case be adjourned til 28th May 2025.
