Minister of Interior, Dr Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, has identified corruption as a major threat to security in Nigeria, stressing the urgent need to address the menace.
His ministry has, therefore, initiated a strategic partnership with the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) to tackle corruption head-on.
Director, Press and Public Relations, Ozoya Imohimi, in a statement on Wednesday in Abuja, said the strategic partnership was initiated when Dr. Tunji-Ojo paid a courtesy visit to the ICPC Headquarters, accompanied by the Permanent Secretary, Dr. Aishetu Gogo Ndayako, top officials of the Ministry and its Agencies.
The Minister further emphasised the need for proactive measures to combat corruption, advocating not only for strategy on detection but also on prevention of corruption.
Recognising the critical role of capacity building, Tunji-Ojo highlighted the need for knowledge transfer in tandem with the ICPC.
Chairman of the ICPC, Dr Musa Adamu Aliyu, acknowledged the Ministry’s vital role in Nigeria and affirmed unwavering support towards shared objectives.
He emphasised the need for the deployment of technology in anti-corruption efforts.
