Amidst the prevailing social and political challenges facing Nigeria, a corps member Muhammed Moshood has enjoined young people towards fostering patriotism and positive change in the country.
He stated it during a youth patriotism and nation building summit held at the Enugu North National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) Local Government Secretariat.
Inspired by the “Stand With Nigeria” a social advocacy campaign, which started as an offshoot of Hope Foundation’s sensitization program, which gained momentum with the hashtag #StandWith9ja, this initiative aims to galvanize the youth towards active participation in nation-building.
Recognizing the need for grassroots engagement and collective action, Moshood spearheaded the revival of the campaign in Enugu as a youth corps member, rallying like-minded individuals and fellow corps members to join the cause across seventeen local governments of the state.
During a conclusive event of the camaign, under the theme “Making of A New Nigeria: The Youth Agenda,” the event served as a platform to redefine the roles of youths in shaping the future of the nation.
Distinguished speakers and panelists engaged in insightful discussions, who offered perspectives strategies for effecting meaningful change include Mr. Isaac Onukwube – State Director, National Orientation Agency, Enugu State; Mr. Godwin Ogenyi – Former Commissioner for Human Development and Poverty Reduction, Enugu State/President, YORDEL Africa; SP Ebere Amaraizu – Police Public Relations Officer, Enugu State Command and Hon. (Barr.) Chima Obieze – Member, Enugu State House of Assembly
The event also garnered significant support from the NYSC Management, led by Assistant Director of Community Development Service (CDS), Mr. Ernest Ebekine, who underscored the importance of youth-driven initiatives in fostering national unity and development.
In his opening remark, Moshood, emphasized the critical role of the youth in driving positive change and building a brighter future for Nigeria. “Our aim is to inspire a sense of patriotism and civic responsibility among young Nigerians, empowering them to become active agents of change in their communities.”
He added that the campaign gained momentum following his engagement across various local governments and CDS meetings, noting that “due to his campaign, he has been able to win new volunteers across the states of Nigeria, particularly, Lagos, Ondo, Cross River, Rivers, Bayelsa, Kaduna, Minna, and Ogun States”
