A Corps member’s Sustainable Development Goals(SDGs) Community Development Service (CDS) project came to fruition on Friday, as Mercy Imoyera launched the ‘Mobility Matters’ initiative at the Jamatul Islamiyya Primary School in Eti-Osa 3 Local Government area of Lagos State.
The project aims to provide mobility aids to individuals with disabilities, promoting inclusivity and equality.
Imoyera, a Development Knowledge Facilitator (DKF) of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), presented two brand new wheelchairs and six crutches to beneficiaries.

Each wheelchair recipient received a support fund of ₦10,000, while crutch recipients received ₦5,000.
The project aligns with the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goal 10, which focuses on reducing inequality.
The Corps member with State Code LA/24B/0416 and an alumna of the University of Benin (UNIBEN) emphasised the importance of addressing the specific needs of people with disabilities to create a more inclusive and equitable society.
“I feel fulfilled knowing fully well that by God’s grace and intervention, I have been able to execute this project to better the lives of the beneficiaries with these mobility aid. I derive so much joy in seeing them happy and knowing that this project will enhance their well-being. I am forever grateful to my mother Mrs. Florence Imoyera, for instilling an act of generosity and humanitarian service in me,” she said.
Imoyera expressed gratitude to God and to her sponsors; Super Parents Foundation, EmmyblaqCFR, Allux Groups LLC, Ice Clothing, Jennys Hair Luxury, Fleeky Baykes, Panda Audio, Declan Associates, MasterLead Construction and all individuals who crowdfunded the mobility matters project.
While only four beneficiaries were present to receive their mobility aids, Imoyera Mercy ensured that the remaining beneficiaries would receive their mobility aid soon.
The ‘Mobility Matters’ project demonstrates the positive impact that individuals can have when they identify a problem and take action to create change.
Dignitaries present at the commissioning include: The State Coordinator, Mrs. Salmwang Christianah; Assistant Director Community Development Service, Mrs. Oso Grace; Schedule Officer, Sustainable Development Goals, Mrs. Amodu Mojisola; Zonal Inspector Island Zone, Mrs. Obadina Folakemi; CDS Schedule Officer for Island zone, Mrs. Fatoki; and Etiosa 3 Local Government Inspector, Mrs. Victoria Abela.
Others include, Mr. & Mrs. Stanley Imoyera, Mr. Adeoluwa Adekunle, Mr. Emmanuel Eghenure, Arc. Femi Akanji, Qs. Emeka Ukasoanya, among others.
The program was anchored by Mr. Henry Tawoshe
