BARRING any unforeseen reason, the coroner inquest constituted by the Osun State government to investigate the death of the first civilian governor of Osun State, Senator Isiaka Adeleke, has fixed next week Monday to deliver its verdict on what actually caused the death of the late politician.
However, Adeleke’s friend, who was with him in the early hours of April 23 when he died, Mr Dipo Faborode, did not show up in court on Monday.
The bailiff, who was asked by the coroner, Chief Magistrate Olusegun Ayliara, if he was able to serve summon which was issued last Friday on Faborode, said he could not deliver the summon.
Tribune Online gathered that Faborode had travelled to the United States of America not long after the sudden demise of Senator Adeleke.
The nurse, who administered injections on Adeleke, Mr Alfred Idowu Aderibigbe, had informed the coroner during the last proceedings that Faborode was with him when he was attending to the politician on April 23 before he (Adeleke) was rushed to Biket Specialist Hospital, Osogbo, where he was pronounced dead.
However, the coroner said he would not wait needlessly for people who refused to appear before the court despite being summoned, maintaining that out of 15 people summoned to appear before him, 10 appeared.
Ayilara said the court would deliver its verdict on the inquest on May 29.
It will be recalled that Adeleke’s family had vowed never to appear before the coroner, describing the inquest as a kangaroo set up to achieve a predetermined result.
