Consider youths in major appointments, youth council president begs Buhari

The National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), has appealed to President Muhammadu Buhari to consider youths in his major appointments.

According to the NYCN National President, Mr Bello Shagari, “this is because of the vital role the youths have played in having the President re-elected”.

Shagari, who made the assertion in a statement issued to Newmen in Sokoto on Sunday, said that no one can properly articulate youth issues except youths.

He said, “it is with little or no surprise that the new Ministers and members of the presidential cabinet list have brought in new people without youths.

“However, the list is okay because one can hardly challenge the competence of the new ministers and we cannot complain about such because the time for a bargain is over.

“Moreover, we cannot blame President Buhari now because he did not personally make any commitment concerning youths in his cabinet and it is not law anywhere in our constitution.

“As such, we appeal to the president to consider youths in his major appointments because of the vital role they have played in having him re-elected.

“No one can properly articulate our issues except us. The rate of hopelessness among the youth is rising,” Shagari said.
