While congratulating the new Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN), Walter Onnoghen as the nation’s topmost jurist, I would like to draw his attention to some of the challenges that are currently plaguing Nigeria.
These challenges need to be corrected. Justice Onnoghen needs to make an indelible record in the Nigerian judiciary, a record that will remain evergreen in the memories of Nigerians.
Some of the core challenges confronting the Nigerian judiciary and justice administration system are delay in adjudicating cases and issues surrounding the conduct of some members of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA).
Under Onnoghen, erring politicians who are brought before the courts should be made to face the full wrath of the law without partiality.
The issues of corrupt judges and fake lawyers must be fought to a standstill. CJN Onnoghen should restore the lost glory of the Nigerian judiciary.
All black sheep in the system should be weeded out and punished in accordance with the dictates of the Nigerian constitution. I wish Justice Onnoghen a successful tenure.
