THERE was confusion in Ogaminana, Adavi local government area of Kogi as the men of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) allegedly killed a commercial motorcycle operator, popularly called Okada.
The Okada operator, identified as Onimisi Ilori, was said have been tortured to death by the operatives of the NSCDC.
Trouble was said to have started on Saturday when Ilori was arrested following a complaint lodged by the owner of the motorcycle that Ilori was using for commercial purpose.
It was gathered that the Okada rider had reported himself to the owner of the motorcycle that it was stolen at the place where he used to park it overnight.
However, not satisfied with the explanation of the deceased, the owner of the motorcycle reported at the Ogaminana divisional office of the NSCDC where he alleged that Ilori stole his motorcycle.
The operatives were said to have stormed the home of the Okada rider but did not meet him and gave a directive that he should report in their office over a case brought against him.
Ilori was said to have reported himself at the office and upon interrogation, he told the operatives that the motorcycle was stolen where he had parked it the previous day and that he immediately reported same to the owner.
But the operatives, who claimed he was telling lies, were said to have beaten him seriously and later detained him in their cell where he was allegedly tortured to death.

As the news of his death filtered to town, it was gathered that Okada riders in the town invaded the NSCDC office chanting war songs and demanding the release of the corpse of their colleague while some of them were said to have trooped to the high way obstructing the free flow of traffic.
The situation was however aggravated when police brought the corps of the Okada rider to the family house, claiming that he committed suicide in the custody of the NSCDC.
The friends and family members of the deceased however disagreed with the police, saying that Ilori was killed in custody.
The spokesman of the NSCDC, Kogi state command, Alex Agiri, added further confusion to the development as he confirmed that the incident happened, adding that it was being investigated by the command.
But after 30 minutes on a second thought, Agiri called back to deny that the incident never took place.
