Wunmi Oyawe, who launched her first CD titled ‘The Appointed Time’ in the year 2009, revealed how God continue to use the album to minister to the lives of people globally. With the recent release of another nine tracker album titled ‘Mercy Seat’, launched in August 2017, she said, “This latest album has continued to be a source of inspiration for those who listen to it and there have been powerful testimonies of God’s goodness as people continue to listen to the songs in the album. The new album contains nine powerful and spirit filled tracks which never stop to bless the listeners and bringing glory to God. Moreover, all the songs were written through the inspiration of the Holy Spirit by Wunmi Oyawe”.
The gospel singer, Wunmi Oyawe attributed inspiration to write new songs to the leading of the Holy Spirit, stating “inspiration to write new songs come to me in divers of ways according to the leading of the Holy Spirit.” Sometimes she got the inspiration while driving, she also receive inspirations through dreams while sleeping, and above all while reading and meditating on the word of God. Furthermore, inspiration to write new songs also comes to her when she is thinking about life in general.
Like everyone else, Wunmi has her own challenges and concerns about the gospel music industry. Combining family with full time employment and music ministry can sometimes be overwhelming but she affirms that God who is her strength and source of inspiration has always been in control.
To her, the issue of marketing, promotion and piracy has always been another concern for her especially when she is not based in Nigeria. Her aspiration and hope into the near future is to continue to write new songs and release as many CDs as possible so as to impact the world around her. She aspires to take the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ to all the corners of the earth through her songs.
