The accused, who works as a driver with Fafem Haulage Nigeria Ltd, and resides at 24, Otolowa St., Iyana Church, Ibadan, Oyo State, is being tried for stealing.

The Prosecutor, Sgt. Innocent Odugbo told the court that the offence was committed on March 17 at Abule-Egba, a suburb of Lagos.

Sgt. Odugbo said that the accused loaded twelve pallets of Amstel Malta canned drink and twelve pallets of Heineken drinks to be delivered to a customer at Port Harcourt.

“On getting to his destination, it was discovered by customers that 21 cartons of Amstel Malta valued at N73, 500 and 29 cartons of Heineken drinks valued at N116, 000 were missing.

“The accused could not account for it and so a call was put through to the Lagos branch and following the accused’s arrival, he was arrested,’’ he said.

The offence contravened Section 287 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015(Revised).

The accused, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.

The Magistrate, A. O. Komolafe admitted the accused to bail in the sum of N200, 000 with two sureties in like sum.
