The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the District Head of Tudun Wada, Alhaji Jibo Dallatu, disclosed this on Wednesday in Sokoto.
The monarch, who spoke through Dr Kabiru Dallatu, said the items distributed included 22 bags of rice, two bags of millet, a bag of gari and some cash.
“The items were collected by the district Zakkat committee from wealthy individuals in the area and distributed to the targeted needy persons as enshrined in the Islamic Shariah,” Dallat, said.
He called on the beneficiaries to judiciously utilise the items and lauded the donors.
Also speaking, the Chairman of the Commission, Malam Lawal Maidoki said that the gesture would alleviate the suffering of the beneficiaries.
“It aims to enable them to fast and to celebrate the forthcoming Eid-el-Fitr festivities with relative ease.
”The state government is committed to improve the living standard of the needy and orphans across the 23 local government areas of the state,” he said.
Maidoki called on the beneficiaries to shun street begging and also urged them to engage in various meaningful business ventures.
