Coalition formed in Bauchi is ill-timed ― NNPP guber candidate

THE recent coalition formed by some political parties in Bauchi State with the aim of unseating the incumbent Governor and ruling APC gubernatorial candidate in the forthcoming general elections has been described as ill-timed considering the fact that the general election is just three weeks away.

Gubernatorial candidate of the New Nigeria People Party (NNPP), Ambassador Shuiabu Ahmad Adamu stated this while fielding questions from Journalists shortly after he addressed a press conference at the NUJ Press Center on Friday declaring that, “even though it is a good development but it is rather too late now. We have candidates for all of the the elective offices and we cannot just wish them away for anything.”

He however picked holes in the coalition because according to him, “out of the 22 people in attendance at the meeting, 11 were members of the main opposition PDP which has seen defeat to be imminent, so you can see that the coalition is aimed at one direction.”

While answering another question on who among the presidential candidates the NNPP will support Shuiabu Ahmad simply said, “as a party, we don’t have any particular candidate, all we want is someone who has the ability and capability to move the country forward out of the economic duldrum we have found ourselves at present.”

The gubernatorial candidate also declared that his party will do everything humanly possible to ensure that the votes cast by the counted just as he assured that rigging and vote buying of any form will be resisted by his party.

He declared that, “from what we have seen on the ground in all the places we have been to for campaigns, people are disenchanted with the present administration and are yearning for a positive change. The only way the APC in Bauchi state can win an election is by rigging and we will not allow this to happen.”

Shuiabu Ahmad then promised that if elected as the next Governor of the state he will ensure that every sector of development in the state is well taken care of lamenting that the state is at present the most backward interms of educational development having 1.3 out of school children in the country.

On corruption fight, he declared that, “as soon as we established the apparatus of governance, we will ensure that corruption menace is eradicated because it is corruption that is the cause of the present underdevelopment in the state.”
