NiMet’s Weather Outlook by its Central Forecast Office (CFO), on Monday, in Abuja, also predicted chances of isolated thunderstorms over Kogi, Abuja, Kaduna, Lafia, Makurdi and Mambilla plateau in the morning.
It added that isolated thunderstorms were expected over most of the region during the afternoon and evening hours with day and night temperatures of 26 to 32 and 17 to 24 degrees Celsius, respectively.
The agency said the southern states would experience cloudiness and isolated thunderstorms over Obudu, Ikom and Ogoja, with isolated rains over Ikeja, Ijebu-Ode, Warri, Yenagoa, Port-Harcourt, Calabar and Eket in the morning.
It also predicted prospects of isolated thunderstorms over the southern cities during the afternoon and evening hours with day and night temperatures of 30 to 32 and 20 to 24 degrees Celsius, respectively.
According to NiMet, northern states will experience partly cloudy to cloudy conditions during the morning hours with prospects of isolated thunderstorms over most cities later in the day.
“Day and night temperature values are expected to be in the range of 30 to 36 and 21 to 25 degrees Celsius, respectively.
“The position of the Inter-Tropical Discontinuity (ITD) is presently located in Niger Republic.
“It is keeping Nigeria under the influence of moist winds which are favourable for thunderstorms over the North, central cities as well as over some cities in the southern part of the country,’’ NiMet predicted.
