Cleric advises youths to imbibe culture of hard work

AN Abuja Based Islamic Cleric, Sheikh Yahya Al-Yolawi, on Friday advised youth to imbibe the habit of hard work by seeking knowledge and means of livelihood.

Al-Yolawi, who is also the Chief Imam of Area 10 Mosque, gave the advice while delivering Jumma’at sermon entitled: “Take advantage of five things before the five things happen to you, “in Abuja.

The cleric stressed the need for the youth to effectively use their prime time, adding that most people take their youthful age for granted.

He said the people should take advantage of their health, time, wealth, life, and youthfulness before it is too late.

He explained that youthfulness was a time when a person was most energetic and it was the best time to lay solid foundation for the future.

“Therefore, the Prophet Muhammad is advising the youth to use this moment and take advantage of it.

“The youth should utilise their energy for the sake of Allah by seeking knowledge, obtaining halal means of sustenance, and worshiping Allah.

“When people lose their youth, they find it hard to do those deeds which were easier to do at a younger age, “he said.

Al-Yolawi said that in Islam, a man’s life was divided into a number of stages namely, youthfulness, adolescent, middle-age, and old age.

“The age of forty is the prime of life, when mental and physical capabilities have reached a peak, and after that they start to decline,” he said.

He urged the youths to strive to excel in their various chosen career day in and day out, adding that the harder you work, the better the reward.

According to him, if we strive hard enough, Allah will reward us with the ultimate prize of paradise.
