THE Chief Judge of Delta State, Justice Marshal Umukoro, has condemned in strong terms the recent burning down of the Magistrate Court at Ogwashi-Uku.
Justice Umukoro, who visited the scene of the incident in company of his colleagues and community leaders, led by Sir Emma Okafor, President General, Ogwashi Uku Development Union, expressed shock at the charred furniture, files, books and the total destruction of the exhibit room, saying that the Delta State government would not fold its arms and watch hoodlums drag the hand of the clock of development backward.
He described incident as sabotage even as he called on the police to carry out thorough investigation to fish out perpetrators of the act, and bring same to justice to serve as deterrent to others.
According to the Chief Judge, the Registrar of the Court has been directed to take inventory of damaged properties.
He said that it beats his imagination that at this time of economic recession where the present administration led by Senator (Dr) Ifeanyi Okowa is prudently managing the state’s lean resources in order to bring justice closer to the people, some miscreants are unleashing terror and causing wanton destruction of government facilities.
