The Ogun State Police Command has arrested one Isreal Oluranti, 21, for allegedly stabbing one 18-year-old Farooq Olusegun to death in Ifo area of Ogun State.

The incident according to the Police Public Relations Officer,  Abimbola Oyeyemi, happened on Christmas Day at Ope-Ilu area of Agbado Ifo, following an argument that ensued between Oluranti and Olusegun over a missing phone.

Oluranti had accused the deceased of stealing a mobile phone and in the cause of the argument stabbed Olusegun in the chest with a beer bottle.

The deceased was taken to a nearby hospital for medical attention but lost his life thereafter.

The statement read,”The incident occurred at Ope-Ilu area of Agbado Ifo local government area of Ogun State on the 25th of December.

“Trouble started when an argument ensued over a missing phone of which the deceased accused the suspect of being in his possession. This infuriated the suspect consequent upon which he took one of the beer bottles around, broke it and stabbed the deceased in the chest.

“He was quickly rushed to a nearby hospital but gave up the ghost before reaching the hospital.”

The incident was reported by the father of the deceased, Kolawole Abiola, at Agbado Divisional Headquarter and the DPO Omonijo Sunday detailed Police detectives to the scene where the suspect was promptly arrested.
