As part of its humanitarian commitments directed at helping Nigeria’s health sector, Charis Family International Church, Mokola, Ibadan, in collaboration with Handcraft’d Luv, recently made a donation of medical equipment Adeoyo Maternity Teaching Hospital, Yemetu, Oluyoro Catholic Hospital, Oke-Ofa, and Mokola Community Health Centre, Mokola, all in Ibadan.
Representative of the church, Pastor Deji Akinsola, while making the presentation of the neonatal equipment, which include three set of baby scales, weighing metres and three set of baby cuts, urged the hospital management to make judicious use of the materials.
He said the idea of donating neo-natal equipments to hospitals in Nigeria by the church was supported by a Non-governmental Organisation (NGO), Handcraft’d Luv, to help provide better medical services to Nigerians.
He said this is just the first phase of their act of generosity, noting that there are plans underway to still donate other “heavy equipments” later in the year.
The Acting Chief Consultant of Adeoyo Maternity Teaching Hospital, Yemetu, Ibadan, Dr Olufemi Adesanya who received the equipments, expressed appreciation of the ministry to the church and the NGO, Handcraft’d Luv, for the gesture.

Pastor Akinsola said the church’s interest in the development of its community is what it is not taking lightly, hence nothing will be too much to give for good living of the people.
“Charis Family International Church here in Mokola community has been interested in the development of the society and the state in general. And the moment we heard that there is a need for some equipment here, at the health centre, we quickly made our desire known.
“For the first delivery here, there was virtually no equipment, so, we felt there is a need to come up with something to assist humanity. And so with the help of our church members and Handcraft’d Luv, who has been able to put these few things together, we are here for a reason to actually enhance this community, and we are sure we will be doing more than this.
“As we know, there is so much need in the Nigerian health system at the moment, we are privileged to be associated with a Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO) in Canada called Handcraft’d Luv.
“It is their idea that they are actually contributing their quota to the medical state in Nigeria and specifically help improve in the facility aspect. Part of that plan is to contribute some medical equipment to some identified hospitals in the country.
“My advice for the hospitals is to make judicious use of the equipment so that we can encourage those that are actually assisting us,” Pastor Akinsola said.
The chairman of Mokola residents association, Mr F. Kola Salami Agbaje, vice chairman, Honourable Peter Akubuike and the secretary, Feyisetan Segun, who were all present at the presentation ceremony, thanked Charis Family International Church for the kind gesture.
Also in attendance were Mokola community leaders, Baale Ilorin of Ibadanland and Oba Tapa of Ibadanland, Alhaji Bashir Sheu Kabir and Alhaji Shehu Ibrahim, who commended Charis Family International Church for coming to the aid of the hospital at this crucial time.
The Council Manager, Aare Latosa Local Council Development Authority (LCDA), Engineer Adewale Babatunde, also in attendance, assured the church that the hospital will make judicious use of the medical equipment, while also commending the church’s timely response to people’s need.
