Catholic Bishop, Ajang tasks reporters on Ecclesiastical coverage

The Catholic Bishop of Lafia Diocese, Most Reverend David Ajang has tasked reporters and announcers of the Church to develop keen interest in building their capacities in tune with contemporary global trends for effective Ecclesiastical reporting and announcing towards advancing the growth of the Church.

He gave the task at a one day training organized by the Directorate of Social Communications in the Diocese for Parish announcers, reporters, Catholic Voice Crew and Catholic Media Practitioners Association of Nigeria (CAMPAN) at Saint Williams Cathedral Lafia.

Bishop Ajang encouraged reporters to boost patronage of the Catholic Voice Newspaper by reporting Ecclesiastical issues in their Parishes: “it is important that you try and tell your own story because if you don’t tell your own story, no one would do that for you”.

Addressing announcers, the Catholic Bishop implored them to always ensure announcements are made in a most concise, clear and chronological order, delivering messages as intended devoid of ambiguities.

Earlier, Acting Director of Communications, Reverend Father Godwin Apesuu explained that the Diocese deemed it very imperative to train reporters and announcers on how best to tell the story of the Universal Church.

He thanked Bishop David Ajang for remaining resolute in supporting the Catholic Voice Newspaper to stand tall among publications across other Dioceses in the country.

Two papers on Basics of News Writing and Reporting and Ecclesiastical Reporting/Announcing were presented by Mrs Kogi Mnena Rachael and Reverend Father Godwin Apesuu.

The one day training had in attendance Priests, reporters, announcers, members of Catholic Media Practitioners Association of Nigeria CAMPAN, among others drawn from various Parishes of Lafia Diocese.
