There are several types of artificial nails; acrylic nail which is a mixture of liquid monomer and powder that is applied to the natural nail to create a strong, durable and long-lasting nail. Gel nails is the easiest and common type where a gel polish is applied to the natural nail and then shaped and molded to create a glossy and classic chip-resistant nail while silk nail is a thin layer of silk that is applied to the natural nail to add strength and flexibility.

Artificial nail has its benefits; they last long for several weeks with proper care, they are strong and durable, they are versatile and come in a variety of shapes, lengths and designs.

Caring for artificial nails requires attention to detail and regular maintenance to keep them looking their best and prevent damage. It is important to keep them clean and dry after using harsh chemicals or handling food; wash and dry your hands thoroughly, paying special attention to the areas around your nails.

Avoid exposing artificial nails to extreme temperatures; dishwashing in hot water or exposure to cold temperatures without gloves. Always moisturize your cuticles and nails by applying moisturizing cuticle oil or nail cream to keep your cuticles and nails hydrated and healthy.

Avoid using nails as tools to open packages, pick at things or perform other tasks that can cause damage. Don’t bite or pick at your artificial nails, as this can cause damage and lifting. Try not to use your artificial nails to open doors or windows.

Also, keep your nails away from direct sunlight. Fill your nails regularly to avoid lifting and damage and when filing your artificial nails, use a gentle touch and a nail filler specifically designed for artificial nails to avoid damaging the nail surface.

Avoid using hot tools like hair dryers, flat irons, or curling irons near your artificial nails, as the heat can cause damage.
