The chairman, who was represented by the Lagos State CAN Secretary, His Most Eminence, Baba Aladura (Dr.) Israel Akinadewo spoke at the 5th South-West annual convention of women’s wing of the Christian Association of Nigeria (WOWICAN) hosted by the state chapter at the Evangelical Church Winning All (ECWA), Mushin, Lagos.
The three-day convention, which brought different Christian women under one umbrella, featured a series of activities, including the WOWICAN choir ministration and the performance of the young Salvation Army.
WOWICAN South-West chairperson, Reverend Dr (Mrs.) F.T. Oduwusi, expressed her delight on the success of the convention and also acknowledged the support of the executives and the host, adding, “as the theme of this year’s convention: ‘Excellent women,’ it is a wake up call to us all to work hard and make ourselves extremely good in all areas of our lives.”
“We are not called for only religious activities, but to be a role model, good mothers, women of faith, an excellent woman indeed,” she added.
In her sermon entitled: ‘Power of Submission’, Reverend (Mrs) K.B. Adeyemi, highlighted how to move the body of Christ forward and ensure unity among Christian women in South-West, and importantly, in all churches and in Nigeria as a whole.
The host, chairperson WOWICAN, Ambassador (Mrs) Elizabeth Onojobi, appealed to the Lagos State government to support and also urged Nigerian women to submit to God in all their endevours as God will prosper their ways.
