The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Zamfara State has raised an alarm to security agencies over an alleged desperate move by the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to ensure their candidate is declared winner of Saturday’s by-elections in the state.
In a statement issued on Thursday night by the Zamfara State APC Publicity Secretary, Malam Yusuf Idris, the party expressed grave concern over what it described as the state government’s plan to deploy the dreaded outlawed yan sakai to Kaura Namoda Local Government Area ahead of Saturday’s State House of Assembly by-election.
The statement reads in part: “Currently, we have seen the entrance of such miscreants into the Government House, and information gathered from the Government House has also revealed that they are being kitted with uniforms and firearms used by members of the state government security watch group.

“This is an alarming situation used by the PDP and state government machinery in their desperate move to forcefully ensure that their candidate is declared winner at the end of the election, no matter who gets wounded or killed.
“You may recall that the state government and the PDP had earlier tried shifting the election using insecurity as an excuse, which the APC rejected.
“Both the state government and the PDP are certainly not happy with the APC, and with this current move of bringing in outlawed thugs, we fear for the lives and properties of our electorate and that of our party members, especially in the affected local government.
“It is because of these threats that we wish to alert all security agencies in the state in good time, and to also ensure that only the core reputable security agencies, especially the Police, DSS, and the Civil Defence Corps, are involved.” The statement concluded.
