The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on Thursday issued Certificates of Return to candidates who won last Saturday’s by-elections across the states where the exercise was conducted.
Those who visited the Commission’s headquarters to collect their certificates included Senator-elect for Edo Central Senatorial District, Joseph Ikpea; his counterpart for Anambra South Senatorial District, Emma Nwachukwu; and House of Representatives member-elect for Ovia Federal Constituency, Omosede Igbinedion.
Speaking with journalists, Senator Ikpea, who replaced Edo State Governor Monday Okpebholo in the Red Chamber, said he would improve on the feat recorded by the Governor while in the National Assembly.

Senator Nwachukwu said his focus would be on addressing erosion, health, and education.
He said: “I plan to work very closely with my colleagues in the National Assembly, in the Senatorial Zone, all the House of Representatives members, about four of them, across parties. We will come together.
“We will look critically at all the issues that have not been touched and we will resolve it for the people of Anambra South. My promise is that they will feel well-represented this time around.
“We want to be able to separate representation from philanthropy.
“Anambra South is like the erosion capital of Nigeria. So ecologically, I want to attract both international and local environmentalists to come and take a look at some of those degradations that are happening.”
