Reuel Elijah has disclosed Grammy Award-winning Afro-Fusion singer Burna Boy as his favourite artiste while expressing his love for Nigerian music and the afrobeats genre.
In a recent chat with the media, Reuel Elijah spoke about the current feat of the Nigerian music industry. He said Nigerian artistes have taken afrobeats beyond what many thought, adding that the respect and recognitions they are getting abroad have placed them in a global sphere.
The 25-year-old stated that Nigerian musicians are now on the same level as the international singers whom many used to see as superiors. He said: “Right now, artistes from Nigeria are well appreciated, just like the top American and Canadian musicians.”
Reuel acknowledged artistes like Davido, Wizkid, Yemi Alade and Tiwa Savage are musicians who have influenced a lot of the new generation artistes to work even harder to establish their style of music, however, he stated that Burna Boy is his favourite musician because of his creativity and authenticity.
Reuel Elijah, born Marlon Bertram, is a South Wales musician who started music at a tender age. He got inspired by musicians like Usher, Destiny’s Child, Sisqo, Beenie Man, Busta Rhymes, Ludacris, Chris Brown, Brandy and many others.
