The House of Representatives on Tuesday threatened to order the arrest of the Executive Secretary of the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA), Mr Olusade Adesola, for refusing to explain his role in the alleged contravention of the building code of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
Chairman of the House Committee on Public Petitions, Hon. Mike Etaba, who issued the notice during the resumed investigative hearing in Abuja, explained that the arrest warrant for Mr Adesola would become necessary if he fails to appear on Thursday, 13th March 2025, to state his side of the story on the committal of the petition on the alleged infraction on Plot AO9399 Cadastral Zone, laid by the Chairman of the House Committee on Customs, Elder Leke Abejide.
Hon. Etaba, who stressed the Committee’s resolve to dispense with the matter as soon as possible, frowned at the FCDA helmsman’s refusal to honour the invitation.
In his remarks, Hon. Abejide’s Counsel, Mr Samuel Ajayi, in a chat with Parliamentary Correspondents at the end of the proceedings, explained that he filed a similar petition to the offices of the FCT Minister, Barrister Nyesom Wike, and the Director of the Department of Development Control, Mr Muktar Galadima.
“The petition we have before the House is in respect of a special appeal for the Chairman’s swift intervention on the development of a property at AO9399 Cadastral Zone contravening the building code of the FCT.
“We have a complaint in respect of a building going on there which trespassed into the rights of my client. We are urging the appropriate authority to take appropriate steps to address the issue,” he noted.
