President Muhammadu Buhari has congratulated Prof. David Ijalaye on his 90th birthday, rejoicing with the family, friends, and associates of the academic as they mark the milestone.
According to a statement by the president’s special adviser on media and publicity in Abuja on Thursday, the president joined the Nigerian Bar Association, National Judicial Council and the academia in celebrating Ijalaye.
Buhari commended Ijalaye for his contributions to the teaching and practice of law in Nigeria for more than 34 years until he retired in 1998.
The president said that the legal luminary had left his footprints on the sands of jurisprudence in the country, noting that future generations would continue to extol his virtues.

Buhari also commended Ijalaye’s discipline and dedication, which had attracted many awards and enviable positions for him within and outside the academia.
The emeritus professor was a one-time dean, faculty of law; deputy vice-chancellor and chairman, board of the postgraduate studies at the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife.
He was also a fellow of the Nigerian Institute of Advanced Legal Studies and fellow of the Nigerian Society of International Law.
