PRESIDENT Muhammadu Buhari on Saturday marked his 74th birthday with a spectacular military parade at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
The event organised by the Brigade of Guards and commanded by Musa Yusuf, took place at the forecourt of the president’s office.
The military performed a special birthday drill before the president set free 74 pigeons to mark the occasion.
He later cut a birthday cake and signed a birthday register with the words: “I am impressed with the special drills presented by the Guard Brigade.”
The occasion was witnessed by service chiefs, ministers and other top government functionaries.
Speaking to State House correspondents at the end of the event, the Chief of Defence Staff, Gabriel Olonishakin, congratulated the president on his 74th anniversary, saying: “We are celebrating the birthday of the president and we wish him well and good health.
“We wish him all the goodness of God as he pilots the affairs of our nation to greater heights.”
