President Muhammadu Buhari has strongly condemned the deadly airstrike on a migrant centre near Tripoli, Libya on Wednesday.
He has also commiserated with the Government and people of Niger Republic “over the killing on 1st July, 2019 by an armed group of eighteen soldiers near Inmates in the Western Region of the country.”
According to a statement issued in Abuja on Wednesday by Garba Shehu,
Senior Special Assistant to the President (Media & Publicity), the President described as “inhuman, wicked and callous” such an attack on “helpless and defenceless people.”
Buhari, who called for an international investigation, said those behind the death and injury of scores of migrants must be made to face justice.

President Buhari noted that the unfortunate attack is a wake-up call to the warring factions in Libya and the international community to quickly restore peace and stability in the beleaguered country.
He prayed to God to comfort grieving families and grant speedy healing to the injured.
On the killing of soldiers in the Niger Republic, the President in a letter of commiseration to President Mahamadou Issoufou on behalf of the Government and people of Nigeria, President Buhari said: “Our thoughts and sympathies are with the families of the victims of this heinous crime. Nigeria strongly condemns this act of terrorism and shares your pains over the enormous loss. As the nation mourns these heroes, we also pray that those reported missing would soon be found. It is also my hope that those behind the attack would be tracked and brought to justice.”
