The Commander, 23 Armoured Brigade, Yola Brigadier General Amechi Agwu has reassured the government and people of Adamawa state that the Army will do everything posible to maintain the peace that the state currently enjoys.
The Commander who described Adamawa state as one of the most peaceful states in country said the military will not condole any act that will create unnecessary tension.
“We will defend our father land and protect lives even as the war against insurgency continues.
“The relative peace currently enjoyed in Adamawa is largely due to your resilience and sacrifice of the Nigeria Army but our work is not done until we secure total safety across the state.”
Brigadier General Amechi Agwu stated this at the 23 Bridgide Command Headquarters in Yola.while charging the newly promoted officers in his command to be upright and exhibit good conduct at all times.
“As you are being decorated today, know that more responsibilities as being added on your shoulders, as your new rank , the first after you were commissioned means you must live up to expectations”
Four officers were promoted from the rank of Lieutenant to Captain, those decorated include the acting director Army Public Relations Officer Lt. S.A. Adewumi, Lt. Nnebe, Lt. Bitrus Phanuel Dauda, and Lt. A. A. Ismaila officially elevated to the rank of Captain.
Brigade Commander, Brigadier General Amechi Ogbonnaya Agwu, presided over the event and congratulated the officers, describing the promotion as a well-deserved recognition of their dedication, discipline, and outstanding performance.
He thanked the Chief of Army Staff for approving the promotions and urged the newly promoted officers to remain steadfast in their commitment to national security, especially in the fight against insurgency in Adamawa State.
Representing senior Captains in the brigade, Capt. AS Fariogun commended the newly promoted officers and reminded them that their elevation came with heightened responsibilities. He encouraged all personnel to remain united and proactive in tackling security challenges.
Officers from sister security agencies present at the event also offered words of encouragement, applauding the officers for their commitment and urging them to remain hardworking.
Speaking on behalf of the newly promoted officers, Capt. Samuel Adebayo Adewumi, who also serves as the Acting Public Relations Officer of the Brigade, expressed gratitude to the Chief of Army Staff and the Brigade Commander for their mentorship and support.
He pledged that the new captains would remain committed to their duties and continue to contribute meaningfully to the Nigerian Army’s mission of safeguarding lives and property.
