MORE than eight people including four policemen have been injured as rampaging gunmen suspected to be militants, invaded Igando community in Lagos on Tuesday.
The gunmen invaded Isuti, Totowu parts of the Lagos community early Tuesday morning and raided many houses carting away money and other valuables.
It was gathered that the heavily armed militants had initially blocked the LASU – Iba Expressway Road, before moving into the riverine communities.
A resident of Ewedogbon, one of the affected communities, who pleaded anonymity, while speaking with Tribune Online stated that  a team of policemen had earlier in the day been repelled by the superior firepower of the militants .
The resident also stated that the militants were forcing their ways into one houses after another, maiming residents.
The gunmen reportedly engaged another team of reinforced policemen, shooting four of them in the process.
Palpable tension still pervaded Isuti, Totowua areas of Igando as at the time of filing this reports with more policemen and Armoured Personnel Carrier drafted to the scene.
