Suspected hoodlums this morning invaded the Bayelsa State House of Assembly chamber, disrupted parliamentary proceedings and carted away the mace.
According to reports, the hoodlums invaded the chamber just before the plenary session to have the speaker, Rt. Hon. Tonye Isenah, resign voluntarily or impeached commenced.

The suspected hoodlums, who were said to be armed as well, fired warning shots into the air, throwing the whole chamber into a state of confusion before fleeing the scene with the mace.
The hoodlums, who arrived about 10:58 am, were said to have overpowered the Sargent-at-Arms and security operative who couldn’t help the situation, as lawmakers scampered for safety.
It could be recalled that the speaker, for about a week now, had been under intense pressure to resign or face impeachment to give way for another lawmaker.
