The office of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Ogidi in Idemili North Local Government Area of Anambra State on Sunday afternoon gutted by fire.
The State Police Command spokesperson, SP Haruna Mohammed, who confirmed the disaster in a statement, said the fire allegedly emanated from bush set on fire beside the INEC office.
According to him, at about 12:30 pm on Sunday, “there was a reported fire incident at INEC office Ogidi in Idemili North LGA of Anambra State.”

Police patrol team led by DPO Ogidi Division rushed to the scene while the Fire Service Department was contacted.
He said the scene was cordoned off and effort is ongoing to put off the fire and prevent it from escalating to other adjourning buildings in the area.
He said the extent of damages done yet to be determined.
“Consequently, the Commissioner of Police, John Abang, has ordered for a discreet investigation to ascertain circumstances surrounding the incident.”
