President Muhammadu Buhari is presiding over a closed-door meeting with members of the National Council of State at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, with the former Nigeria’s leaders, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo and former President Goodluck Jonathan..
Obasanjo, had, on Sunday, in a public outburst, came out hard on President Buhari, criticising his administration of underdeveloping the ćountry, while also alleging that he had mapped out plans to rig the February 16 presidential election.
Before the meeting went into a closed-door session, on its commencement, it was Obasanjo who offered the Christian opening prayers, while Justice Mohammed Uwais, a former Chief Justice of Nigeria, said the Muslim opening prayers.
Other former national leaders in attendance at the meeting include former President Goodluck Jonathan., former Head of Interim National Government, Chief Ernest Shonekan and General Abdulsalami Abubakar, while General Ibrahim Babangida and General Yakubu Gowon were absent as of the time the meeting began.
Also at the commencement of the meeting the governors of Edo, Lagos, Niger, Borno, Ogun, Ekiti, Osun, Kebbi, Zamfara, Plateau, Ebonyi, Adamawa and Kogi states were in attendance.
Top on the agenda for the meeting as gathered are key issues bordering on the national security, national minimum wage and the 2019 general elections.
