Boy, 18, bags jail term for stealing handset

An Oredo Magistrates’ Court in Oredo Local Government Area of Edo State, on Tuesday, committed 18-year-old Shegun Olamide, to one-month imprisonment for stealing a samsung handset.

The Magistrates, Mrs P.E Foy-Yamah, convicted the accused after he pleaded guilty to one-count charge and begged the court for mercy.

The Prosecutor, Inspector Ada Johnbull, told the Court that the accused committed the offence in October 21, 2016, at about 4:00p.m. in Benin.

Johnbull said the accused unlawfully stole the Samsung handset valued at about N5,000 and belonging to one Amen Kingsley.

He said the offence contravened section 390 of the Criminal Code.
