Borno Gov names 500-housing estate after Mai Mala Buni

Borno Governor, Professor Babagana Umara Zulum, has named a newly built 500-housing estate in Njimtilo, Maiduguri, after his Yobe State counterpart, Governor Mai Mala Buni.

Governor Buni was invited by Zulum to commission four projects in Maiduguri on Wednesday.

The projects include the 500 housing estate in Njimtilo, Shehu Sanda Kura road, Metro housing estate, and Borno Express flyover.

Zulum also named Metro Housing Estate and Mairi Mega School after Vice President Sen. Kashim Shettima. These projects are part of fulfilling his 2023 campaign promises.

According to Zulum, the projects will revive Borno State’s lost glory due to over a decade of Boko Haram insurgency.

He called on residents to cooperate with the government to develop the state, regardless of political affiliation.

The governor noted that the relationship between Borno and Yobe states is strong, built on historical and political ties.

Also speaking, Governor Mai Mala Buni of Yobe State appreciated Zulum for naming the Njimtilo Housing Estate after him. He pledged that Yobe State would work with Borno State to rebuild the North-East region after years of Boko Haram insurgency.

“We share a common heritage and goal: restoring our states to their former glory,” Governor Buni said, commending Borno State’s efforts to commission key projects.

“We’ve invested heavily in education, healthcare, agriculture, and empowerment programs for a brighter future,” Governor Buni explained.

“We urge our people to support the government’s initiatives, ensuring a conducive environment for growth and development,” Governor Buni added.

The two states have been ravaged by insurgency, resulting in significant loss of life and infrastructure.

The Borno State government’s projects, executed with local and international partners, aim to enhance residents’ quality of life after experiencing more than a decade of Boko Haram terror.
