Between Sunday Igboho and DSS

Chief Sunday Adeniyi Adeyemo popularly known as Sunday Igboho, a self acclaimed Yoruba freedom fighter became more popular on January 26, 2021 when he came out to defend the people of Igangan by issuing seven days’ ultimatum to Fulani herdsmen in Ibarapa area of Oke-ogun, Oyo state to vacate the land after the murder of Dr. Fatai Aborode .

He is a fearless man and strong advocate for the emergence of Oduduwa nation. He had been going round the Southwest states to express his feelings on why Yorubas need to break away from Nigeria.

Nigeria is a blessed country and is known as the giant of Africa. Why then are some groups demanding to break away from Nigeria? The Federal Government under the leadership of President Muhammadu Buhari should address this issue and take effective action to curb the incessant killings and kidnappings going on in Southwest states.

Sunday Igboho wouldn’t have come out to clamour for Yoruba nation if all is well with Nigeria. I want Nigeria to be in peace and conquer insecurity. The Department of State Services (DSS) invaded Sunday Igboho’s house in a bid to arrest him recently. One of the primary responsibilities of the DSS is to protect and defend the Federal Republic of Nigeria against threats within the country irrespective of the scope.

Another function of the DSS is to counterterrorism and insurgency. It is in view of this that I want to appeal to the management of DSS to send out teams of operatives to invade the base of Boko Haram in Maiduguri with the same vigour with which they invaded Igboho’s house

The Federal Government should get rid of all those who are sponsoring criminals to kill and kidnap innocent Nigerians irrespective of their tribe.

Also, we should embrace dialogue in Nigeria. Killing ourselves cannot solve the problem.
