Benue State Government, on Saturday, distributed relief materials to flood victims in the state.

The Executive Secretary of the State Emergency Management Agency, James Iorpuu who distributed the relief materials said that the initiative was to cushion the effects of the disaster.

The distribution of relief materials to the affected flood victims marked the closure of the six designated camps within the capital city of the state.

The SEMA boss said that the distribution exercise which was flagged off at Logo II in Makurdi was extended to the flood victims in other designated centres which include; High Level, Achussah, Gyado Villa, Wadata, and modern market.

Relief materials distributed to each of the flood victims were 25kg of rice and 50 kg of maize.

Iorpuu who stated that the agency had submitted a list of flood victims to the Federal Government through NEMA assured that those affected by the flood but not captured during the enumeration exercise would be taken care of.

He said, “The distribution of relief materials was part of the current administration’s commitment to alleviate the suffering of flood victims in the state.”

Chairman of the Landlords Association, Logo II, Mr. Thaddeus Ahule, appreciated the state government for the distribution of relief materials to flood victims which he said would go a long way to help the victims as they settle down.
